Technology training for all patent examiners(09/17/10)
On September 16, 2010, the Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, David Kappos, announced that the Office would institute a Patent Examiner Technical Training Program that will be available for examiners in all technology areas. Scientists and experts in various areas of technology will be encouraged to volunteer to share their expertise with patent examiners on the state of the art, emerging trends, maturing technologies, and recent innovations in their fields of examination. Mr. Kappos believes that improving the technical knowledge of examiners will improve the quality of patent examination. The details of the new program may be found in the Federal Register notice here.
